Feng Shui :: STUK on Creative Spaces

Feng Shui is the art of arranging objects in an environment to achieve (among other things), success in your career, wealth, and general happiness. It’s an ancient art and science developed over 3,000 years ago in China. Feng Shui is a complex body of knowledge that reveals how to balance the energies of any given space to assure the health and good fortune for people inhabiting it. Feng means wind and Shui means water. In Chinese culture wind and water are associated with good health, thus good Feng Shui came to mean good fortune. The ancient Chinese believed that the land’s energy could either make or break the kingdom, so to speak. So, elevate your queendom and try a little Feng Shui this week.

Instant Inspiration :: Va$tie Interview

This is SUCH an inspirational interview and really captures the essence of what it is to truly be a renaissance woman. “She has her clothing line Violette, she’s directing videos, she’s doing her party planning, both for regular folks and the celebrity crowd, too, but there is still a respect for her family roots”. Vashtie has a crazy inspiring work ethic, and motivates other young women to be multifaceted dream chasing entrepreneurs. Vashtie say’s, “The girl at the café, she’s a waitress by day but at night she’s writing her novel, you know, everyone has their side gigs, and they’re doing all these different jobs at once. I think it’s the true life of a New Yorker. You’re constantly hustling.” CLICK HERE TO WATCH and get inspired!

STUK on Rachel Roy’s Spring 2012 Collection

This fashion week we fell in love with Rachel Roy’s Spring 2012 line. She says,I wanted to explore the idea of a very feminine woman wearing masculine clothing, so that’s where you get the suiting from. All of the florals I wanted to do in a more graphic color. Florals to me either come in brights and sharp lines, or black, white, and cream. And, it’s the idea of opposites. The idea that when you bring odd opposites together that’s when you find real beauty. I think there are so many nationalities out there that are mixed. I think there are so many different ways to mix things, and if you don’t it’s not modern. And for me, that’s true inspiration.“ We love how Rachel consistently has a profound idea behind her fashion design. Each season she relates her collections to a concept with depth, such as love, diversity, or modernism. Below are some of the pieces from this line that we ADORE. Wildfire

SBTRKT ft. Little Dragon and Drake Wildfire REMIX is one of our current musical obsessions. We thought it couldn’t get any better when Little Dragon hopped on this beyond amazing SBTRKT track, oh but it did. Drake added another layer of edge. We love how Drake exposes the Hip Hop world to dope indie artists like Lykke Li and Little Dragon. Take a listen and fall in LOVE!

Simple by: Thea Monyee

Our love is so simple
Most people would overlook it
Dismiss it as practical or try to make it into more than it is
Yet less than it is
It is everyday
Romance disguised in jokes and
Small gestures
Invisible to the naked eye
I often thank God that I did not mistake its subtleties for a lack of interest
Minus the drama that television teaches us
Is the mark of any relationship worth fighting for
So many women channeling their inner Carrie that they carry
The Big bullshit into their expectations
Never stopping to ask why she could not allow herself to be loved by Aiden
Perhaps because he made it too easy
Perhaps because he accepted her as she was

VASHTIE X KENDRICK LAMAR A.D.H.D

We absolutely love Vashtie. She is such a versatile power woman. A directer, artist, party promoter and all around innovator, her new projects always excite us. She seems to take on an extreme workload of diverse projects but perfectly balances and spaces them out. We have been anticipating this new project she has been working on for awhile! Who better to shoot Kendrick Lamar’s first video than King Vashtie. Their dope creative styles really flow well together and the video displays a raw, minimal, yet edgy visual that exhibits the essence of real hip hop. We love this video and this creative collab. The Help

Based upon a bestselling novel, The Help, is an profound film. It is a film that may be overlooked as a typical “feel good” Southern race movie, but it goes way deeper. The Help touched and moved me like no other film has in quite some time. It is a movie that “goes there” and takes you with it. Often movies about race, class, and sex issues of the past lightly touch upon Jim Crow and the inner depths of relationships between men and women. The Help dug to the root of these issues and then grew outward. It examined the structure of Jim crow, creating a visual reflection on screen of what it felt like to live trapped in that oppressive system.
