FORKS OVER KNIVES is a new documentary that has been floating around and sparking a lot of conversation and food consciousness. It has definitely changed my concept of “eating healthy”. We all know eating healthy is supposed to be important, but do we really grasp why? This film examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods. The idea of food as medicine is put to the test. Throughout the film, cameras follow “reality patients” who have chronic conditions from heart disease to diabetes. Doctors teach these patients how to adopt a whole-food, plant-based diet as the primary approach to treat their ailments – while the challenges and triumphs of their journeys are revealed.
In Los Angeles we have been BBQing in January. The weather has been absolutely beautiful so I had to share. Sunday fun day’s with friends are oh so needed after crazy weekends and long work weeks. Thursday was the talented miss Achiamar Lee-Rivera’s birthday. Achiamar blesses STUK with some amazing photo’s and her unique styling skills. Thurday we celebrated her fabulousness at Perch in downtown Los Angeles. Perch is an elevated rested place and a whimsical French inspired inclusive rooftop bistro. Due to its surroundings Perch offers an unobstructed view, and allows you to feel as though you are floating at the skyline. I completely fell in love with this rooftop bar. Stacy of Exalt Her and Nov. Renaissance Woman, Erica joined us. It was an amazing time of friends, food, drinks and a breathtaking downtown view. Heat lamps and an outdoor fireplace kept us warm on the chilly January night. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Achiamar!! Cheers to accomplishing all your dreams in your 24th year!

On Wednesday I went Sake bombing with friends. I think it’s so important to get out and spend time with friends not just on birthdays, holidays, or even only on weekends. On a lovely Wednesday night Stacy gathered us all together and we had a blast! It also happened to be Bobak’s last night in L.A. before embarking on a New York adventure to Grad school. We will miss him! But before he left he blessed us with a hilarious Sake bombing tutorial.
